Wow what a month! October was so busy I hardly had a chance to post something.

If your in the radio biz, a friend of mine showed me radio.about.com, it's written by Cory Deitz who does mornings at KDJE in Little Rock. He does a great job posting the latest news, articles, etc. about the radio biz.

For those of you who are using Mac OS X, here’s a killer app you gotta have---Wiretap. It’s a very simple little audio capture program that records whatever audio is happening on your system, no matter what program it’s coming from, then puts it on your computer as an .aiff file. Ideal for grabbing drops off a DVD very quickly, or recording internet radio stuff from itunes or computer voices from the OS.. The link is:

Haven't tried this vast plug-in package yet, but I don't see how you can go wrong for $199. They call it the 'never ending plug-in'---over 80 effects and 20 virtual instruments.. Even if most of 'em suck, it will never feel like a rip-off.

I've been asked this question a lot, "How do you keep track of all the stuff you produce? What if you need a piece of Voiceover, or an element you used in a promo from last year?"

For the Mac, I use this shareware program called DiskTracker. There must be a gazillion programs like it for Windows. After I burn a Backup CD (or a DVD) I just pop the cd in the drive and drop and drag it on to the programs window, and it catalogs every file thats on the disk, then you can search for a particular drop or file months down the road using a keyword search.

Pro Tools?

If you use Pro Tools then you know about the 1000's of different plugins and settings you can use. I found this helpful little website where other Pro Tools users like yourself post their settings for different plugins to create some pretty cool effects...

Need Great Copy?

Every SINGLE sweeper, promo, and commercial starts out with words. If you don't have good copy it will get lost in the mix and won't grab you listeners attention and create that emotional response.
