I've been asked this question a lot, "How do you keep track of all the stuff you produce? What if you need a piece of Voiceover, or an element you used in a promo from last year?"
For the Mac, I use this shareware program called DiskTracker. There must be a gazillion programs like it for Windows. After I burn a Backup CD (or a DVD) I just pop the cd in the drive and drop and drag it on to the programs window, and it catalogs every file thats on the disk, then you can search for a particular drop or file months down the road using a keyword search.
